With the help of ActivFeatureHistogram you can improve the setup of your vision system, for example, by testing the feature value range which separates good objects from bad ones. Typically, ActivFeatureHistogram is used only during the setup of an application, i.e., in the configuration mode, but not in the application mode.

ActivFeatureHistogram can be used together with all tools that generate numeric features. The most common ones are ActivFeatureCalc (used together with ActivBlobFinder) and ActivMeasure. There are two typical tasks for which ActivFeatureHistogram is used: The first one is to get an impression about the setup of the system, for example, its illumination, and about the extracted objects. By looking at the feature statistics one quickly gets an impression on how the system can be further optimized. The second typical task makes use of ActivFeatureHistogram as a tool for easily determining feature value ranges which are used by ActivDecision to distinguish between good and bad objects.
